The combined turnover of the QUBIS Ltd portfolio companies for 2010 is £104m and is expected to exceeded £112m in 2010, together they employ 1006 people. Export sales outside Northern Ireland account for over 95% of this figure.

  • The software products developed by Kainos are distributed around the world.
  • Lumichem has sold its amino acid detector in 20 countries.
  • Andor has sold to USA, France, Germany and Japan.
  • Biosyn has sold its diagnostics products to large US drug companies.
  • APT's music coding system is being used all around the world as its chips are incorporated in satellite transmission systems and long-range radio station links.
  • The polycarbonate reeds for bagpipes produced by Hughes & McLeod Ltd are used in USA, Canada, Oman and Australia as well as Scotland.
  • Rotosystems product, Rotolog, is used in Germany for monitoring the quality of motor cycle fuel tanks as well as in the rest of Europe and USA.
  • Amphion has a strong presence in the USA market.
  • Biocolor sells more of its Sircol assay kit to Japan than anywhere else.
  • Acksen has distribution around the world for its products that monitor the electrical environment.
  • Avalon Instruments has a rapidly developing international blue chip customer list.
  • Realtime Solutions has now successfully entered the Australian market.

In the marketing of technology, the outlook of QUBIS Ltd companies is truly international. Three of the companies, Amacis, Andor and Amphion now have premises in USA. It is no accident then, that more than half of the partners in QUBIS Ltd companies are based outside Northern Ireland.
