News: QUBIS Marks 40 Years of Innovation with Commemorative Book Launch at the Naughton Gallery

QUBIS, proudly marked its 40th anniversary this week with an intimate evening event at the Naughton Gallery. The occasion celebrated the launch of the QUBIS 40th Commemorative Book, a publication that reflects on four decades of innovation, entrepreneurship, and research commercialisation.

The event brought together members of the Queen’s University leadership team, the QUBIS Board past and present, key figureheads in the QUBIS story, representatives from our portfolio companies, and our dedicated staff - a community that has shaped and sustained QUBIS since its founding in 1984.

Attendees heard reflections from QUBIS Board member David Quinn, Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Ian Greer, QUBIS Chair Helen Kirkpatrick, and CEO Brian McCaul. Each speaker offered unique insights into the evolution of QUBIS, its role in turning academic research into real-world solutions, and the vision for the next chapter of growth and impact.

Over the past four decades, QUBIS has helped launch and scale numerous high-impact companies rooted in university research, contributing to economic development, job creation, and global innovation. The commemorative book captures this journey - spotlighting the people, milestones, and ventures that have defined QUBIS’s success.

As we celebrate this important milestone, we also look ahead - with gratitude to those who have shaped our story, and with excitement for the opportunities still to come.
