News: QUBIS Welcomes InnovaScope to its Portfolio

QUBIS is pleased to announce the addition of InnovaScope to its portfolio of innovative spin-out companies from Queen’s University Belfast.

InnovaScope is pioneering the development of advanced endoscopy simulation technologies. Its solutions are designed to improve training for healthcare and veterinary practitioners by providing realistic, multimodal simulation platforms that support skills development at every stage of the training pathway.

Transforming Endoscopy Training

InnovaScope’s simulation systems address a critical need within healthcare education by offering:

  • Risk-free training environments – enabling learners to build confidence and competence without impacting patient safety.

  • Accessible and cost-effective solutions – portable and affordable simulators that reduce dependence on clinical theatre time and specialist supervision.

  • Progressive, modular design – adaptable systems that allow trainees to advance from basic psychomotor skills to complex therapeutic techniques.

This approach enhances the quality and efficiency of training, supports earlier development of procedural competence, and has the potential to reduce costs for healthcare systems.

The People Behind the Innovation

InnovaScope was co-founded by Rachel Small, Teaching Assistant in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen’s, and Conor Hamilton, Lecturer in Education and Nursing. Together they bring a unique combination of clinical insight, academic expertise, and pedagogical innovation to the design of InnovaScope’s simulators - ensuring that the technology is grounded in both research and practical application.

A Strong Strategic Fit

InnovaScope represents the kind of research-driven innovation that QUBIS seeks to foster - combining academic expertise with practical impact. The company’s focus on improving training outcomes, safeguarding patients, and increasing accessibility aligns with our mission to support ventures that deliver measurable societal and economic value.

Looking Ahead

As part of the QUBIS portfolio, InnovaScope will be supported in its plans to scale and expand adoption of its technology across medical and veterinary education sectors, both in the UK and internationally.

We are delighted to welcome InnovaScope to the QUBIS community and look forward to supporting their journey as they transform the future of endoscopy training.
