News: Celebrating International Women’s Day Across the Queen’s Innovation Community

International Women’s Day offered a meaningful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible women who contribute to the thriving innovation ecosystem at Queen's University and QUBIS Ltd.

Women play a vital role in shaping the future of innovation and entrepreneurship, bringing diverse perspectives that drive creativity, challenge assumptions, and lead to more inclusive solutions. Across research, start ups, and industry, women are not only advancing new ideas but also redefining leadership and expanding the impact innovation can have on society. Greater representation in entrepreneurship leads to stronger, more resilient businesses - teams that are better equipped to identify unmet needs and create solutions that reflect the diversity of the world around us.

To mark the occasion, we recently hosted a networking event that brought together founders, researchers, and supporters of innovation. It was an inspiring gathering that highlighted the talent, ambition, and leadership shaping our community. The atmosphere throughout the event reflected a shared sense of purpose and a commitment to supporting one another in driving innovation forward.

A key moment during the event was the official welcome of Marina Donohoe as CEO of QUBIS. In her remarks, Marina spoke about the importance of connection and the role strong networks play in empowering women in innovation. Her message resonated deeply, reinforcing the value of collaboration and community in creating lasting impact.

The event served not only as a celebration but also as a platform for meaningful conversations, new connections, and future opportunities. It was a reminder of the strength within our network and the importance of continuing to create spaces where women can connect, share experiences, and lead with confidence.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to such a positive and energising event. The collective spirit in the room made it a memorable occasion and a fitting way to celebrate International Women’s Day.
